My granddad passed away the beginning of July after fighting a hard battle with Alzheimers. He was such a good man and some of my best memories are from time spent with him and my extended family on Wilson family reunions. He will be missed but I know we will see each other again someday and reminisce on the fun times we had together as a family.
His funeral was up in Burlington Washington where my mom grew up and where we went almost every year as kids. I thought it would be a good experience for my two big kids to come with me to the funeral and Landon was awesome enough to stay home with the little boys. He loved my granddad too and I know it was hard for him to stay home. To say that my kids had an absolute blast is an understatement. My uncle Keith lives in my grandparent's old home and he has two boys right around Jack's age and he played with the them the whole time! Jack doesn't have a ton of boys his age in our neighborhood and he rarely hangs out with friends so it did my mama heart good to see him having so much fun with boys his age! My cousin also lives in Washington and she has a daughter just a year older then Avery and they do so well together too. They had a sleepover and spent the night swimming and playing dolls. I am so glad they got to come hang out with my family and enjoy a place I hold so close to my heart. We ate at so many yummy restaurants and enjoyed some quality family time. It was definitely an awesome trip!
The funeral was great and the kids did so well. Hearing all the fun stories about my sweet granddad were the highlight of the trip. He was an amazing man who worked so hard. He loved the gospel and served in so many time consuming and hard callings. He served faithfully and happily.
